Ontario Utility Scale Solar

Alectric Renewables operates as a Utility Scale solar developer and EPC for utility scale in Ontario and across Canada.
Our daily lives rely on huge amounts of energy and while there is a fair amount of discussion and disagreement about how long these fuels will last, there is strong consensus that we use these resources faster than they are replenished and sooner or later they will run out.

Our Past Projects: Commercial Solar and Net Metering in Ontario

In 2020, Alectric Renewables installed a net metering system for a commercial storage facility, cutting grid reliance by 90% and saving approximately $20,000 annually on energy costs.

Generating roughly 120,000kWh of electricity per year, Abacus Self Storage will displace 1.6tons of GHG emissions.

On top of that, through our partnership with Tree Canada, Alectric Renewables saw 112 trees planted in a deforested area of Ontario.

This project demonstrates how commercial solar installations can deliver immediate and long-term financial benefits in Ontario’s competitive energy market, while helping the environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any facility that uses more than 500,000 kWh per year can benefit from Net Metering in Ontario.

Net Metering Systems are sized based on a number of factors. They may not generate more electricity than a client consumes annually. The physical size of the available roof area sets a limit on the size / KW capacity of the solar array.

The available Amperage at the main electrical service defines how many AC KW of distributed generation capacity can be connected to it.

Alectric Renewables is ‘technology independent’ and is not beholden to any supplier of technology.

We recommend the products that provide the best value in terms of quality and price, ensuring they work seamlessly as a system through a top-quality installation.

Larger scale solar PV systems deliver power at a lower unit cost, simply because the price of these systems responds strongly to economies of scale.

For example, residential systems may produce power, but they do so more expensively than the grid.

A system 100 X the size of a residential system will produce power at a cost per kWh which is half of today’s market price.

Large scale commercial solar installations can deliver electricity at a low lifecycle cost per kWh, approximately half the cost of power at today’s prices.

This is an unbeatable ‘energy hedge’ against future cost inflation.

Buildings that have a large footprint and which are low to the ground are good for solar in Ontario.

Large open and unobstructed rooftop areas are required.

Most commercial and industrial facilities fit this profile.
